U.S. foreclosures rose 7% in July from June

Foreclosure fallout hangs heaviest here in Florida

Statewide, foreclosures rose nearly 400 percent, with 623,570 properties

receiving unwelcome attention from banks and mortgage lenders. Through

 May, another 175,612 properties entered the pipeline, according to a

study prepared by a task force advising the Florida Supreme Court about

 how the judicial system can deal with the worst foreclosure crisis since

the Great Depression.

 

Florida’s existing home, condo sales up in 2Q 2009

Sales of existing single-family homes in Florida rose 23 percent in second

quarter 2009 compared to the same period a year earlier. A total of 43,125

existing homes sold statewide in 2Q 2009; during the same period the year

before, a total of 35,008 existing homes sold. It marks the fourth

consecutive quarter that Florida has seen higher existing year-to-year

home sales.
